Mid-season workshop 2010

We have decided to run the mid-season workshop as a training weekend, to be held over two days in July: Saturday July 24th and Sunday July 25th. The location will be the David Lloyd Club in Eastbourne. Being the time of a mid-season break for many of you, this is a chance to take a pause and enjoy some social time with other PBscience athletes as well as reflecting on how the first part of the season went.

Objectives of the weekend:

  • To introduce 3 practical strategies to enhance performance in the second half of the season
  • To measure everyones 'Critical Power' using 3 performance trials across Day 1
  • To met socially with other riders, and a chance to ride in different scenery on the Sunday morning
  • To perform mid season reviews and plan for the second half of the season

Saturday 24th July

8:00am Meet at the David Lloyd Club
8:30 am Performance trial 1 to estimate Critical Power*
9:00am

Using visualisation to maximise performance: Guest speaker, Louise Broda

12:00pm Performance trial 2
1:00pm Lunch (included in workshop price)
2:00pm Keeping cool: practical tips on using pre-cooling before race events
3:00pm Performance trial 3
3:30pm Coffee and Rego break!
4:00pm Understanding how to use your Critical Power in race pacing
5:00pm Q&A
6:00pm Close of day 1, chance to use the gym facilities
7:30pm Evening meal together

Sunday 25th July 

9:00am Meet in the David Lloyd Club car park
9:30am Group ride ~45 miles (depending on numbers, we will split into two groups)
1:00pm Lunch (in the David Lloyd Club bar, not included in workshop price)
2:00pm The mid season review: introduction
2:30pm

Rider 1-2-1s with coaching team: 20 to 30 minute slots to discuss the first half of the year and decide how to feed this information into the second part of the season.

While this is taking place, riders wil have some spare time to use the gym facilities or to watch the final day of the Tour de France in the club bar!
