Does hydration status influence our responses to hypoxia? |
Exposure to low levels of oxygen, known as hypoxia, increases physiological strain, and while cause performance to reduce. While acclimatisation to reduced oxygen improves the responses, the time for this to happen varies between individuals.

Using Critical Power as a Training Intensity |
Critical Power is a popular exercise parameter since it can be estimated from 3 or 4 performance trials, similar to what an athlete is used to in race performances. The trials (lasting between 3 and 15 mins) require no expensive or technical equipment. We were keen to see if CP is sensitive to changes in fitness with training, and at the time, evaluate its use as a training intensity to achieve peak performance.

Assessing fitness in children |
Children are entering into the realms of elite sport earlier than ever before, yet sport scientists need to be sensitive to their status as minors. Therefore, non-invasive tests of fitness are essential, as is an attitude of them being anything but 'small adults'.

The effects of hypoxia on human performance |
A test designed to determine both sprint and endurance capabilities in athletes in an easy and practical way is undergoing development at the University of Brighton.
